What do I need to do to start my student in a tutoring progam?

Most of our families begin a relationship with Vertex after a meeting with one of our academic advisors. Our academic advisors engage the parents and the student in a frank discussion about their academic background and their future goals, as well as personal considerations that will help us both recommend an appropriate service or services and a tutor who will be a perfect match for the student.

What are your rates?

Rates start at $85/hour for most tutoring programs and vary depending on the service and the tutor.



How do your rates compare to other tutoring agencies?

Our rates our extremely competitive for New York City. We encourage anyone who is looking into tutoring options to evaluate other agencies before making a decision. Vertex takes pride in the quality of our service and believe it is a tremendous value for the price. Give us a try and we believe that you will agree.

However, we understand that not everyone can afford private tutoring. As an organization, we are committed to working with all motivated students regardless of financial means and offer need-based scholarships for deserving students. How long will my student need to be tutored?

That very much depends on the individual student. We will be able to put together a basic timeline after meeting with the student and their family.



Where will my student be tutored?

Most of our students are tutored in their own homes, however we will work with students in any appropriate learning environment, such as a library or school.



Do you offer a guarantee?

Yes. If you are not happy with your first session of tutoring, you will not be charged for the session. Vertex reserves the right to place another tutor with the student before issuing a credit for the class session. In the event that the client still does not want to continue with a Vertex tutoring program, then the client must sign and complete a discontinuation form, to be provided by Vertex, stating their reasons for dissatisfaction and request for credit. The form must be submitted within 7 days of the session to be eligible for credit. In the event that the proper procedures are not followed, then the client will be billed according to the policies outlined in the Vertex Service Agreement.



What is your privacy policy?

We feel that collaboration with parents, educators, and anyone involved with a students development is an effective best practice, but we respect the fact that some parents do not want others to know that their child is receiving tutoring and will always contact the parents directly before discussing a students academics outside of our organization. Vertex will not share your personal information with any third parties, unless we specifically acquire your permission before doing so.




Do you offer group tutoring?

In a few isolated instances, our tutors will work with more than one student at a time. This is only appropriate when the students are working on the same material and are learning at similar levels.




Do you only work with high school age students or younger?

No. Learning is a lifelong endeavor. We work with college students, adults, and corporate clients on a limited basis as well.




Do you only work with students in New York City?

No. We have worked with students in Westchester, Long Island, Northern Jersey, and Fairfield County, CT. Rates are adjusted for travel.
