Standardized Test Preparation

We offer preparation for many standardized tests. Click on the links above for information on some of our most commonly tutored tests.

Assessment Process

Students begin a test preparation program by taking an assessment that will help Vertex identify specific areas that may require more attention. This will also allow the student to experience the test in a relatively stress-free situation. Typically, students will take this practice test at least six months to one year in advance of the actual test, however certain tests may require more or less time to prepare. Based on the results of the practice test and the initial academic consultation, Vertex will match the student with an appropriate instructor who will work with the student over a prescribed amount of time. Every student’s test prep curriculum is entirely individualized to the particular needs of that student and focuses on specific subject matter in addition to test-taking strategies. The student will take another practice exam or exams at a designated time and the results will be analyzed by Vertex and shared with the student’s parents.

Methodology

Vertex does not believe that teaching ’short cuts’ is an effective test preparation methodology. All of our test preparation curricula are very content driven, so students receive the added benefit of acquiring knowledge that will serve them long past the test date. However, ’knowing the test’ is imperative to success on any standardized exam and our programs are designed to teach students how to apply their knowledge and skills to the test.
